Frankoma pottery has been at the heart of Oklahoma state history and its widely celebrated ceramics scene. When John Frank first established Frank Potteries (later “Frankoma Pottery”) in early 1933, he was a full-time Ceramics professor at the University of Oklahoma.After becoming the first commercial pottery business owner, John decided to shift his entire focus to Frank Potteries and resigned from his university position in 1936.
